Sharm El Sheikh

Situated in the National Park region of Ras Mohamed in the Southern Sinai, the coastal resort of Sharm el-Sheikh offers the ideal mix of sun, sea and sand. This area is spread along the coast of Nabq and covers the areas of Na’ama Bay, Ras um Sidd and Sharm town. Here you’ll find luxurious five-star hotels plus opportunities for water sports and shopping, and there is entertainment for all ages.

Sharm el-Sheikh is one of the most accessible and developed tourist resort communities on the Sinai Peninsula, with Bedouins, colourful tents, mountains and sea to experience. The most renowned activities are diving and snorkelling, along with windsurfing and other water sports, horse and camel riding, desert safaris, and great nearby antiquity attractions. There’s always something happening in Sharm El Sheikh!

The main parts of Sharm El Sheikh

The areas that make up Sharm are all well developed, with facilities and amenities that are relatively inexpensive compared to other beach resorts around the world. One of the main areas of the resort is Sharm El Maya and its bay. A short walk from the Sharm El Maya Bay, there are all kinds of shops where you can pick up souvenirs or more authentic items such as Egyptian spices.

The main bay in Sharm is Na’ama Bay. Although the bay isn’t particularly large, there are plenty of nightclubs and places to eat. The bay is also the location of the main port and marina, where there is a fishing and diving boat jetty.

El Hadaba

Sharm el-Sheikh consists of three main areas: Sharm el Maya and its bay, a number of other bays and El Hadaba. In the greater resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, the bays include the following: Sharm el Maya, Na’ama Bay, Garden Bay, Tiger Bay, Sharks Bay, and Nabq Bay.

Sinai

Although diving is a prominent attraction in Sharm, the area also offers the beauty of the Sinai, with its mountains and valleys and numerous national parks. While visiting Sharm, you can visit well-known attractions such as St. Catherine’s Monastery at the base of Mount Sinai. The founding of this ancient monastery is believed to data back to around AD 330 and is also thought to be one of the oldest operating monastic communities in the world.

Mount Sinai itself is said to be where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Why not climb this famous mountain and admire the views from the summit? The views at sunrise are particularly spectacular.

Sharm El Sheikh Diving Opportunities

You’ll find some of the world’s most beautiful underwater scenery in the area between Tiran Island and Ras Mohammed National Park, found on the tip of the Southern Sinai. Crystal clear water, rare and beautiful reefs and a variety of tropical fish and colourful coral make the area a must-see for visitors. And all it requires to see this natural beauty is a short snorkel of the coast.

But undoubtedly, the best way to experience what the Red Sea can offer is by scuba diving, with easy access to some of the most prominent and interesting dive sites. Sharm provides all the necessary facilities for divers of all abilities, with its diving shops, centres and boats. If you’re picking up a snorkel and putting on a diving cylinder for the first time, there are plenty of places that offer diving train.
